The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is reviewing a permit renewal application for JCI Jones Chemicals, Inc., a facility specializing in industrial inorganic chemicals. Public comments on the proposal are being accepted until December 27.
Located at 100 Sunny Sol Boulevard in the Town of Caledonia, the facility processes wastewater with a flow rate of 0.777 million gallons per day. The water is discharged into groundwater classified as GA, designated for potable supply.
The renewal application pertains to the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit NY0072079, which regulates the facility’s wastewater discharges to protect water quality. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback to the DEC.
