Five Democratic members of Congress from Connecticut reported bomb threats to their homes on Thanksgiving, according to the Associated Press.
Police, including U.S. Capitol Police, found no explosives at the properties of Sen. Chris Murphy and Reps. Jim Himes, Joe Courtney, John Larson, and Jahana Hayes. The threats appeared to be part of a broader campaign against public officials, following similar incidents involving Trump administration appointees earlier in the week.
The FBI and local authorities are investigating the threats, which added to a tense political climate following an election marked by violence.
Courtney’s family was home when his property was threatened, while Hayes and Himes praised law enforcement for swift responses. Lawmakers condemned political violence and urged for civility during the holiday season.
