Connie’s Diner celebrates reopening with Chamber event

  • Staff Report

Connie’s Diner, a beloved fixture in the Waterloo community, celebrated its grand reopening on November 13, following months of closure due to a summer fire. Community members and local leaders gathered at the iconic eatery at 205 E. Main Street to show their support as the Caratozzolo family officially reopened the doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Opened in April 1989 by Connie Caratozzolo and her family, Connie’s Diner has been a cornerstone of the local dining scene, known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and a menu that keeps diners coming back. Highlights include all-day breakfasts, hearty fare like Connie’s Quickie—a burger and fries smothered in gravy—and their famous Loaded Milkshakes, which have gained a reputation far beyond Seneca County.

The reopening marks a joyful milestone for the community after the diner temporarily shut down for repairs and renovations. Attendees at the event included representatives from local legislators’ offices, reflecting Connie’s significance not just as a business, but as a community gathering place.

Connie’s Diner operates Tuesday through Saturday, offering service from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
