Five Corning Community College students charged in dorm assault case

Five Corning Community College students face multiple charges following an alleged assault of two students outside a dorm room in Perry Hall on Wednesday evening.

State Police say surveillance footage captured the suspects approaching the victim’s room before the incident.


The victims, a male and a female student, sustained injuries; the male declined further treatment, while the female was treated at Guthrie Corning Hospital.

The suspects, including basketball players Emmanuel Torres, Jalen Zachery, and Yandiell Sanchez, were charged with crimes such as gang assault, harassment, and criminal mischief. All five were arraigned at the Steuben County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, with further details to be released by authorities.
