Economic challenges and job opportunities have led many young Black and Latino men to support Donald Trump in the recent election, a significant shift highlighted by recent AP VoteCast surveys.
Voters under 45, including Brian Leija, a Texas small-business owner, and DaSean Gallishaw, a Virginia consultant, told the AP that Trump’s economic policies and community outreach as deciding factors. Concerns over inflation and stagnant wages drove voters across racial groups to prioritize economic stability over other issues.
Support among young Black and Latino men, especially those valuing “strong leadership,” more than doubled from 2020. Analysts suggest this emerging demographic of men of color could now be pivotal swing voters in future elections.
