Rep. Elise Stefanik, chair of the House Republican Conference, is being considered for U.N. ambassador in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
Following her recent reelection in New York’s 21st Congressional District, Stefanik, one of Trump’s closest allies in Congress, confirmed she would serve in his administration if selected, citing the need for “loyal” supporters to advance Trump’s agenda.
If appointed, Stefanik would step into a role previously held by influential figures like Nikki Haley. Known for her strong pro-Israel stance, she has also been a prominent critic of the United Nations, which she recently called “antisemitic.”
Her possible departure would trigger a special election in the 21st District, where she has served since 2015.
