The Bristol Volunteer Fire Department responded to 43 incidents in October, bringing their total calls for 2024 to 327. As the community prepares for winter, the department is urging residents to prioritize safety by checking their carbon monoxide (CO) and smoke detectors to ensure they’re operational for the colder months when heating systems are in use.
“Replace any batteries if you still have battery-operated systems,” the department advised, noting that these precautions are essential in reducing risks during winter. Additionally, with hunting season in full swing, the department recommends hunters secure themselves safely in tree stands and inform someone of their exact location to help first responders in case of emergencies.
The fire department also extended its gratitude to the community for the success of their Election Day BBQ fundraiser. The event, which began at 3 p.m., saw a tremendous turnout and sold out by 6 p.m., a testament to the strong local support for the department’s efforts.
