Firefighters and emergency responders rushed to a structure fire on State Route 64 in Bristol on Monday morning, containing the blaze after nearly two hours of intense efforts. Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Bristol Fire Department were first on the scene at approximately 9:55 a.m., where an active fire had engulfed a residence. The incident required backup from several additional fire departments in the area.
The fire was reported under control by 11:56 a.m., but the section of State Route 64 from 20A to Lee Road remained closed until 1:45 p.m. to ensure safe operations for all responders. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and two dogs were rescued by neighbors who entered the residence before the fire spread further.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries while performing ladder operations and was treated and released from FF Thompson Hospital. The Ontario County Fire Coordinator’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze, and additional support at the scene was provided by RG&E, National Fuel, and the Red Cross.
The extensive response included assistance from Cheshire, Richmond, Victor, East Bloomfield, Crystal Beach, and Canandaigua Fire Departments, as well as Canandaigua and Naples Ambulance services.
