Fire crews from multiple departments worked together Saturday to extinguish a fully engulfed pickup truck fire located over two miles off-road in a remote area of Galen, according to the Clyde-Galen Fire District.
The Clyde Fire Department responded to the call around 10:19 a.m. with units from Station One and support from Tyre, Seneca Falls, and Savannah fire departments. When the first units arrived firefighters found the pickup truck completely engulfed in flames on a small trail. Due to the remote location, Seneca Falls and Savannah were called in to assist with their utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) to help access the difficult terrain.
Clyde-Galen assumed command at the scene, and once firefighters were able to reach the site, crews worked together to put out the remaining fire. The challenging location made accessing and extinguishing the fire difficult, but firefighters from all responding units coordinated efforts effectively to get the job done.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Chief Officer A. Tavano expressed gratitude to the mutual aid support from neighboring departments and praised the teamwork involved in extinguishing the fire.
Agencies involved included the Clyde-Galen, Seneca Falls, and Savannah Fire Departments, as well as the New York State Police.
