Voters in Schuyler County will cast their ballots this November in newly restructured Congressional districts, following New York State’s redistricting efforts earlier this year. Starting in January 2025, the county will be divided between two Congressional districts: District 23 and District 24.
The change comes after the New York State Legislature approved a new Congressional map on February 28, 2024, with Gov. Kathy Hochul signing it into law the same day.
Under the new boundaries, the towns of Catharine, Cayuta, Dix, Montour, and Orange will remain part of District 23. However, Hector, Reading, and Tyrone will now be represented by District 24.
The redistricting means that Schuyler County residents will elect two different Representatives during the general election on November 5.
Voters in District 23 are currently represented by Republican Nick Langworthy, who’s being challenged by Democrat Thomas Carle in November. Meanwhile those in District 24 are represented by Republican Claudia Tenney, who’s being challenged by Democrat David Wagenhauser.
