Rochester philanthropist and Paychex founder Tom Golisano has donated $1.5 million to the Humane Society of Wayne County. It was part of the billionaire’s $300+ million investment in nonprofits across Upstate New York.
The gift, spread over four years, is part of the organization’s ongoing capital campaign to raise $3.5 million for a new shelter.
Executive Director Mark Plyter expressed excitement over the donation, calling it a major boost toward their goal.
Additional support came from the North Rose Lions Club, which contributed $10,000. Fundraising continues with the “Leaf-A-Legacy” event on October 6, offering music, food, and a silent auction.
