A Byrne Dairy store in the former village of Seneca Falls will be shutting down in just a couple weeks.
While Byrne Dairy has not responded to a request for comment from FingerLakes1.com, store employees tell us that the Byrne Dairy store on Fall Street, which has operated there for years, will close shortly after a new, larger store at the corner of 5&20 and Rt. 414 down the road opens.
The news of Byrne Dairy’s closure in the former village made waves around the town, as community members voiced concerns about walkability, lack of access to a grocery store, and now, even the absence of a convenience store.
The loss of Byrne Dairy would come a few years after the closure of a second Circle K location down the street, leaving just one small convenience store for those in need of essential items.
While some residents have voiced a desire to reach out to Byrne Dairy about the closure, others have noted the Fall Street location’s deficiencies as validation for why its necessary. The aging building is small and would require work to remain open long-term.
