The upcoming debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will be marked by strict rules, including muted microphones when candidates aren’t speaking and no audience, according to guidelines shared by ABC News.
Scheduled for September 10, the debate at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia is expected to be the only face-off before the November election.
ABC News confirmed that the candidates will stand behind lecterns without notes, and no opening statements will be made.
While Harris’ campaign is still in discussions over the microphone muting, these rules mirror those from the June debate between Trump and President Joe Biden, which influenced Biden’s exit from the campaign.
