Speaking at his first solo campaign event in Los Angeles, Walz addressed the accusations of “stolen valor” directly, stating, “I am damn proud of my service to this country.” Walz, who served 24 years in the National Guard, emphasized his commitment to the nation and took aim at his critics during remarks at a union convention.
Walz clarified his military background, acknowledging that while he served overseas and supported forward units, he was never deployed to a combat zone. He expressed gratitude to all who wear the uniform, including his opponent, and reaffirmed his pride in his service. The defense comes as Walz embarks on a series of campaign events, countering GOP efforts to undermine his record.
