Olympic rower Olivia Coffey returns home to Finger Lakes

Burdett native Olivia Coffey returned home Monday night after competing in her second straight Olympics as part of the U.S. Women’s Eight rowing team.

Arriving at Elmira Corning Regional Airport with teammate Molly Bruggeman, Coffey was greeted by her husband, parents, and other supporters despite a long travel day from Paris, according to The Odessa File.

Reflecting on her team’s fifth-place finish, Coffey admitted it wasn’t the result she had hoped for but emphasized the effort put forth.

While undecided about competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Games, Coffey said the decision is still pending. Bruggeman, who recently moved to Corning, echoed Coffey’s sentiment, saying she’d compete again if Coffey does.
