This shift reflects a renewed optimism among Senate candidates like Sens. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) and Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), who have recently appeared alongside Harris at events across the country. Previously, these candidates had avoided association with the Biden campaign, particularly in key swing states where the president’s approval ratings have struggled.
The newfound enthusiasm marks the end of an uneasy detachment between Senate campaigns and the Biden administration, signaling confidence that Harris and Walz could boost, rather than hinder, their electoral prospects. Senior Democratic strategists believe the Harris-Walz ticket is generating momentum that Senate candidates are eager to capitalize on.
However, not all Senate Democrats are fully embracing the ticket. Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) has yet to endorse Harris, while Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), who has endorsed the vice president, faces the challenge of outpacing the top of the ticket in increasingly red Ohio.
