Powerball jackpot climbs to 5 million after no winner on August 5

The Powerball jackpot has increased to an estimated $185 million for Wednesday’s drawing after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday night’s $174 million drawing. The numbers drawn on August 5 were 29, 42, 44, 51, 54, with a Powerball of 12 and a Power Play multiplier of 2x.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot remain a daunting 1 in 292.2 million. The last jackpot winner took home $139 million on July 3, following a $223 million win by a New Jersey player on June 10.

The largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. history was $2.04 billion, won by a California ticket holder on November 7, 2022. Both Powerball and Mega Millions have had jackpots exceeding $1 billion multiple times.
