More than 250 cyclists from across the U.S. pedaled around Keuka Lake on Saturday, raising $100,000 for the United Way of the Southern Tier’s community programs. This annual event drew participants from over a dozen states, who rode 45, 60, or 100 miles to support the cause.
The funds will aid programs benefitting children, senior citizens, and those in need in Chemung and Steuben counties. United Way President and CEO Stephen Hughes praised the riders and volunteers for their contributions, saying, “The proceeds from the ride will make life better for children, senior citizens, and people in need.”
Starting at the Hammondsport Fire Station, cyclists set off early in the morning and completed their routes by 4 p.m. The date for next year’s Tour de Keuka will be announced soon.
