As summer fades, the Old Farmer’s Almanac forecasts a cooler and wetter autumn for the Finger Lakes and Western New York. The region is expected to see below-average temperatures and above-average precipitation this fall.
In contrast, northeastern New York will experience near-average temperatures and less rain. Peak fall foliage is predicted around October 11, with vibrant displays anticipated in the Adirondacks and Catskills.
The Almanac, which claims an 80% accuracy rate, uses solar science and climatology to make its forecasts, despite a 64% accuracy rate last winter due to unusual weather patterns.
