Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Beyoncé’s “Freedom” as the anthem for her 2024 presidential campaign. The powerful track, from Beyoncé’s acclaimed 2016 album “Lemonade,” sets the tone for Harris’s message on gun violence, health care, and abortion in her first campaign video.
“We choose freedom,” Harris declares, underscored by Beyoncé’s rousing chorus: “Freedom! Freedom! I can’t move / Freedom, cut me loose! Yeah.” The song also featured prominently at Harris’s recent appearances in Delaware and Milwaukee.
Beyoncé granted Harris permission to use “Freedom,” a song often associated with political and social movements. The anthem’s powerful lyrics and historical roots resonate with Harris’s campaign themes, aiming to inspire a broad coalition of supporters as she seeks the presidency.
