JD Vance criticized for anti-LGBTQ stance

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, is facing backlash from LGBTQ advocacy groups after being named former President Donald Trump’s running mate. Vance, known for supporting anti-LGBTQ policies, introduced bills to ban transition-related care for minors and to prohibit “X” gender markers on passports.

The Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD highlighted Vance’s record, including the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, which would have made providing gender-affirming care to minors a felony. Another bill, the Passport Sanity Act, aimed to restrict gender marker options on U.S. passports.

LGBTQ rights groups argue these actions are harmful and discriminatory. Kelley Robinson of the Human Rights Campaign criticized the Trump-Vance ticket, stating, “We are choosing between two fundamentally different visions of America.”
