Canandaigua Lake property owners sues Gorham over flood damage

The Town of Gorham and its Town Board are being sued by the family of a Canandaigua Lake property owner for alleged flooding damage. Michael Cregg, trustee of the Barbara A. Cregg Trust, claims the town’s stormwater work caused $3 million in damages to their Lake Drive property.

The lawsuit was first reported this week by The Finger Lakes Times. It was filed by attorney Kyle Gooch, accuses the town of improperly diverting water onto the property since 2014. Despite a 2018 settlement, the property flooded again in 2023, leading to further damages.

Town Supervisor Dale Stell did not comment on the lawsuit. The town has 30 days to respond.
