The Seneca Falls Historical Society will host the Seneca Falls Heritage Express on Sunday, July 21, at 11:00 AM, in celebration of the 1848 Women’s Rights Convention anniversary.
The 90-minute train ride will depart from Academy Square in Seneca Falls, cross Cayuga Lake to Auburn, and return. This route replicates the historic journey taken by women’s rights activists Lucretia Mott and Martha C. Wright in 1848. This event is funded by a Seneca County Tourism Promotion & Development Grant, the Seneca Falls Historical Society and the Women’s Rights National Historical Park. It will feature performances by living historians and a National Park Service Ranger, who will discuss the role of trains in advancing women’s rights.
The ride is free, but seating is limited. To reserve a spot, call the Seneca Falls Historical Society at 315-568-8412. Reservations are confirmed only after speaking with a museum representative.
