Not long after making a trade with the Edmonton Oilers, the Buffalo Sabres announced that they had re-signed defenseman Henri Jokiharju to a one-year contract worth $3.1 million.

Jokiharju, 25, had 20 points (3+17) in 74 games last season. He led the Sabres with a plus-14 rating and ranked fourth on the team with 106 blocked shots.

In the final 26 games of the season, Jokiharju ranked third among Sabres defensemen in time on ice and tied for second with 41 blocked shots.

Jokiharju has 75 points (16+59) in 309 career games spanning six seasons, including five in Buffalo. He was acquired by the Sabres in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in July 2019.

Jokiharju joins a D corps that includes Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Bowen Byram, Mattias Samuelsson, Connor Clifton, Kale Clague, and Dennis Gilbert.
