The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner will make his season debut for the New York Yankees this week.

Manager Aaron Boone said on the Talkin’ Yanks podcast that Gerrit Cole will start Wednesday night vs. the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees had been deciding for the last 24-48 hours whether to activate him from the injured list or have him make a fourth rehab start.

Cole has been sidelined since mid-March with elbow nerve inflammation and edema.

Despite not having Cole for the first couple of months, the rotation has done an outstanding job, posting a Major League-best 2.90 ERA.
