Are you ready for summer? While the forecast this weekend is going to be beautiful, the region will experience its first heatwave next week. What is a heatwave? Confirmed temperatures over 90 degrees for three consecutive days.

Both Saturday and Sunday will offer stunning conditions, with temperatures around 70 degrees on Saturday and closer to 80 degrees on Sunday. Expect sunny skies on Saturday and a mix of sun and clouds on Sunday.

Next week, temperatures will soar. Monday will see highs near 90 degrees with heat index values in the mid-90s. The heat will peak midweek, with temperatures in the mid-90s and heat index values approaching 100 degrees. Overnight lows will remain in the 70s, intensifying the heat.

Be prepared for the heat, especially if you don’t have air conditioning. While a lake breeze might bring some relief north of I-90, areas to the south will have little reprieve, except for a few isolated thunderstorms.

Temperatures are expected to back off into the 80s by the weekend.
