Seneca Falls begins waterfront revitalization plan

The Town of Seneca Falls has started a new project to improve its waterfront areas along the Seneca-Cayuga Canal and Cayuga Lake. The Local Waterfront Revitalization Program aims to find new ways for the town to grow through recreation, community activities, and business opportunities.

The project, funded by the New York Department of State, is guided by a 20-member Waterfront Advisory Committee. This group includes local residents, business owners, and town officials. They are currently examining the town’s waterfront assets and figuring out how best to use them.

The planning process began last fall and will take several years to complete. Town Supervisor Frank Schmitter said the community’s input is crucial. A public forum will be held at the National Women’s Hall of Fame on June 17, and a community survey is available online at https://tinyurl.com/SenecaFallsLWRP.
