The Ithaca City School District will receive an $800,000 rebate from the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2023 Clean School Bus Rebate program. This funding will help the district purchase four new electric school buses over the next two years.
The rebate will cover upfront costs for the buses, necessary electric charging infrastructure, and professional training expenses. The program aims to support school districts in adopting environmentally friendly transportation.
Additionally, Ithaca residents will vote on June 18 to approve an amended Proposition 2. The new proposal includes buying two electric buses, two ultra-low emission propane buses, and three passenger vehicles, contingent on rebates covering the costs.
