Firefighters contain condo blaze in South Bristol

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

A condo fire at 93 Cliffside Drive in South Bristol was quickly contained thanks to the fast response of local fire departments early Wednesday morning. The Ontario County 911 center received a call at 4:53 a.m., and Cheshire and Bristol Fire Departments were dispatched immediately.

When Cheshire Assistant Chief John Springer arrived, he saw heavy smoke coming from the fourth floor of a five-story building. Firefighters from Cheshire Engine 411 quickly deployed a 300-foot hose to fight the fire inside, while the Canandaigua crew searched for occupants. The fire was controlled within 15 minutes, preventing damage to nearby condos.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was limited to one condo. The cause is under investigation by Ontario County Emergency Management. Thanks go out to all mutual aid partners for their support.
