Aaron Judge drove in five runs as the New York Yankees (44-19) extended their win streak to seven games with a 9-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins (33-28) on Wednesday night in the Bronx.
Judge collected three of his five RBI in the fifth inning when he smoked a triple down the left-field line to extend the lead to 7-0. He added a run-scoring groundout and a bases-loaded walk.
Gleyber Torres had a two-run, ground-rule double that capped off a four-run first. Giancarlo Stanton ripped a two-out RBI single, while Alex Verdugo chipped in a sacrifice fly.
Carlos Rodón retired the first 16 batters he faced but ran into trouble in the sixth and allowed a couple of runs but still picked up the win to improve to 8-2.
The Yankees will try to complete the three-game sweep of the Twins on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. before they open a big three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend. Marcus Stroman will get the ball for the series finale.
