Montezuma Audubon hosts series of birding events: When are they?

The Montezuma Audubon Center is hosting a series of birding events in late May and early June, offering various ways to enjoy the migrating songbirds and other species in the Montezuma Wetlands Complex.

Sunset Yoga with the Birds – Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m.

Participants can enjoy an hour of gentle yoga practice led by Linda Galbato of Pure Moon Yoga, set against the backdrop of birds settling in for the evening. The session, best for ages 13 and up, costs $12 per person and will be held at the Montezuma Audubon Center. Space is limited, and registration is required.


Let’s Go Birding Together – Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m.

This guided walk welcomes everyone, including those who identify as LGBTQ and their allies. The two-mile walk at Howland’s Island aims to spot species like the Cerulean Warbler and Wood Thrush. Fees are $7.50 for children, $10 for adults, and $30 for families. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Kickoff the Summer Guided Paddle – Saturday, June 1 at 2 p.m.

Join educators for an afternoon paddle on the Erie Canal, perfect for birding and learning about aquatic vegetation. Participants can bring their own kayak or rent one. Fees range from $15 to $30. The event is open to all ages, but children must bring their own kayak. Space is limited, and registration is required.
