Crunch swept by Monsters in North Division finals

The Syracuse Crunch had their season end on Wednesday night with a 6-4 loss to the Cleveland Monsters in Game 3 of the North Division finals at the Upstate Medical University Arena.

Syracuse was outscored 11-5 over the best-of-five series and scored just one goal in the first two games combined.

The Crunch led 3-2 after 40 minutes but gave up four third-period goals, including an empty-netter.


Alex Barré-Boulet found the back of the net twice for Syracuse, while Cole Koepke and Jordy Bellerive added goals. Matt Tomkins stopped 21 of the 26 shots he faced.

Cleveland will face the Hershey Bears in the Eastern Conference finals.
