Traffic stop in Owasco leads to DWI arrest

A traffic stop by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of Andrew P. Victoria for Driving While Intoxicated. The incident occurred around 3:57 p.m. after a deputy observed Victoria’s vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Melrose Road.

During the stop, the deputy noticed an open can of beer and an unopened one in the vehicle’s center console. After evaluating Victoria, the deputy determined he was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Victoria was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI first offense, failure to stop at a stop sign, and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.

Victoria was processed and released, and he is scheduled to appear in the Town of Owasco Court on May 28, 2024. Sheriff Brian Schenck reported the details of the arrest.
