The Auburn Fire Department announced the promotion of several members after the retirement of a long-serving assistant chief. Captain Matthew Pysnack was promoted to Assistant Chief, while Lieutenants Christopher Burns and Brian Donovan advanced to Captains. Firefighters Travis Poole and Justin Wood were promoted to Lieutenants. The department extended congratulations and best wishes to all in their new roles.
Assistant Chief Bill DiFabio retired after nearly 29 years of service. DiFabio began his career with the City of Auburn on July 31, 1995. He progressed through the ranks, achieving the position of Assistant Chief on November 3, 2016. Known for his dedication, DiFabio served across all four platoons in his final years.
DiFabio’s career started early, joining the Owasco Fire Department at 18. He served as a Fire Protection Specialist in the Air Force and later became a State Fire Instructor. The department wished him a happy retirement.
