Yates Community Center receives $1.5M from state for facility

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the Yates Community Center (YCC) in Penn Yan has been awarded a $1.5 million grant through the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) initiative. This funding is set to spearhead the construction of a new multi-use indoor facility aimed at enhancing cultural, recreational, and educational access in the area.

The grant is part of a broader state effort by the REDC to meet regional economic needs through strategic planning and funding. To date, the initiative has allocated over $8 billion to nearly 10,000 projects across various communities, promoting job creation and community development.

Beth Clark, Executive Director of YCC, expressed gratitude for the grant, which will significantly broaden the center’s community services and impact. The upcoming facility is expected to become a vital community hub, providing inclusive programs that promote well-being and engagement for all local residents.
