A woman from the Town of Galen was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, following a response to a possible overdose incident on Friday. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted the arrest after deputies were called to a residence on Old Route 31.
Stacey L. Belile was taken into custody after it was alleged that a 13-year-old was using marijuana in her presence within the home. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the juvenile was subsequently treated and transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for further care.
Belile was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charges. The incident highlights ongoing community concerns regarding child welfare and substance exposure in domestic settings.
