Waterloo DRI meeting happening tonight: Public will have opportunity to weigh-in on downtown projects

Waterloo residents will gather Wednesday night at the Waterloo Middle School to discuss the allocation of a $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) grant awarded to the village in February. The public meeting, the first of its kind since the grant was announced, takes place in the school’s Large Group Instruction Room, focusing on shaping the future of downtown Waterloo.

The Local Planning Committee, acting as the steering group for the DRI process, will host the event to solicit community feedback and brainstorm project ideas. The session includes an overview of the DRI program, detailed the planning process, and provides a platform for residents to engage in defining a vision for their downtown area.

Community members are invited to contribute to the discussion, with a portion of the meeting dedicated to public comments. The initiative aims to boost local development and includes proposals such as relocating the Memorial Day Museum to a new building at the Waterloo Library & Historical Society. For further involvement, residents can contact James DiPaolo at Urban Strategies Inc.
