On Monday evening, Devante L. Metz, a 26-year-old resident of Ithaca, was arrested at his home on West Buffalo Street. The arrest, conducted by the Ithaca Police Department’s patrol division, was part of an indictment related to a shooting incident that occurred last December.
The arrest, executed without incident at approximately 7:54 p.m., pertained to a December 9, 2023, shooting on N. Plain Street. Metz faces charges of Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, classified as a Class A Felony. He was processed at the local police station before being transferred to Tompkins County Jail to await further court proceedings.
The Ithaca Police Department, aided by the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office, continues its investigation into the shooting, indicating that additional arrests may be imminent.
