Police say a Waterloo man who was arrested in March alongside his sister for conspiring to avoid charges in a Seneca Falls crash was arrested again earlier this month.

Matthew Garneau, 22, of Waterloo was arrested for criminal mischief and two counts of criminal contempt. He’s accused of violating an active court order by approaching a person, engaging in an altercation with them, and smashing out a window in their vehicle.

The victim in this most-recent incident was a protected party in that court order.

However, police say he fled the scene initially and was taken into custody a short time later. He was charged with an additional count of criminal contempt due to being in the same place as a person who was a protected party in another court order.

Garneau was transported to the Seneca County Jail and will answer the charges at a later date.
