The New York Yankees had plenty of hits on Thursday night but couldn’t get the big one in a 3-1 loss to the Oakland Athletics at Yankee Stadium.

New York (17-9) split the four-game series with Oakland (10-16) and finished 4-3 on the seven-game homestand.

The Yankees managed 11 hits but went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position, leaving 11 runners on base. The lone run came in the second inning when Jose Trevino cranked one off the right-field foul pole for his second home run of the season.

Nestor Cortes allowed three runs over seven innings, all of which came in the third. Dennis Santana and Victor Gonzalez posted scoreless outings to give the offense a chance to rally.

Box Score

The Yankees will head to Milwaukee for a three-game series with the Brewers. Game 1 is set for Friday at 8:10 p.m.
