The New York State Senate unanimously confirmed Frank Hoare as the Executive Director of the Thruway Authority on Monday. Appointed by Governor Kathy Hochul in January, Hoare had been serving as interim director since December 2022 following the retirement of his predecessor, Matthew Driscoll.
During his tenure as interim executive director, Hoare was recognized for his robust handling of the state’s infrastructure challenges and his leadership during critical times, including severe weather events. Governor Hochul praised his dedication to New York’s safety and infrastructure improvements, noting his extensive experience and commitment as pivotal for his permanent role at the helm of the Thruway Authority.
Hoare’s confirmation was celebrated by Senate members who highlighted his long history of public service and legal expertise within the state government. The Senate’s approval marks a continuation of Hoare’s leadership, focusing on major initiatives like toll increases to fund infrastructure upgrades and the ongoing improvements to Thruway rest stops.
