The Seneca County Board of Supervisors, facing an April 5 deadline, voted on Tuesday to apply for federal funding in the 2024-25 budget year. The funds aim to develop and expand water and sewer infrastructure along Route 414, stretching between Ovid and Lodi.
This initiative, supported by state U.S. senators and a local Congress member, seeks to leverage Congressionally Directed Spending appropriations.
The board’s decision, which followed unanimous approval from its Economic Development, Tourism, and Housing Committee, targets enhancing the Route 414 corridor.
This nearly shovel-ready project could stimulate economic growth, support redevelopment at the former Willard Psychiatric Center campus, improve municipal services, and benefit Seneca Lake’s water quality, with the exact funding amount yet to be determined.
