Saunders Finger Lakes Museum gains support and new board members

The Saunders Finger Lakes Museum in Branchport, New York, is poised for growth with the addition of two new board members and a boost from a recently approved appropriations bill. Senator Charles Schumer’s efforts led to a $2 million grant for the museum as part of the Agriculture-FDA bill, which was signed into law in early March 2024. This funding is set to enhance the museum’s mission to celebrate the Finger Lakes Region’s rich history and environment.

Eileen Feinman and Don Budmen, the new trustees, bring a wealth of expertise to the museum’s board. Feinman, with her background as Superintendent of Schools, and Budmen, with over three decades as Senior Counsel, are expected to contribute significantly to the educational and operational aspects of the museum. Their appointments come at a time of excitement and anticipation for the museum’s future.

The museum, dedicated to showcasing the culture and ecology of the Finger Lakes Region, continues to receive strong support from both state and federal governments. This support, along with the commitment of its staff, board, and volunteers, underscores the museum’s ongoing success and its role in promoting understanding and appreciation of the area’s unique heritage.
