Ontario County’s cannabis market has officially opened with High Points Dispensary in Geneva making its first legal sales. The dispensary, one of the initial licensees in New York State nearly a year ago, has navigated through regulatory challenges and a temporary shutdown to finally commence operations.
Owner Daryl Hilkert Sr. expressed relief and frustration over the lengthy and complex process to meet state regulations, emphasizing the effort to do things correctly. High Points was among the first to receive a CAURD license, aimed at those with prior cannabis convictions seeking to expand their operations, finally obtaining final certification last month after overcoming various hurdles, including signage restrictions and licensing delays.
With its doors now open, High Points Dispensary looks to the future, focusing on compliance with state rules and providing quality products. Operating hours are set from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Canandaigua Rd. in Geneva, marking a significant milestone in the region’s cannabis industry amidst recent shifts in the state’s Cannabis Control Board.
