For the first time in 17 years and the 14th time in program history, the Bloomfield girls basketball team has won a sectional championship.
The No. 2 seeded Bloomfield Bombers claimed the Class C1 title with a 49-39 victory over the No. 4 seeded East Rochester Bombers on Friday night at Finger Lakes Community College.

Bloomfield built an early double-digit lead and held it for most of the game, leading 21-5 after the first quarter, 32-17 at halftime, and 42-29 after the third. However, East Rochester fought back in the fourth and cut it to five with 2:44 left in the contest, but that was as close as they would get.
Bloomfield improved to 22-2 on the season, while East Rochester finished at 17-7.
Bloomfield will take on the Class C2 champion Dundee/Bradford in the New York State Class C Far West Regional qualifier on Tuesday night. The time and location are to be determined.
