Jim Acquilano is set to open a new wine tasting room in Canandaigua, bringing his dream to life after transitioning from a 40-year career in mental healthcare to winemaking.
Acquilano’s venture, influenced by his family’s winemaking history and formal education at the Finger Lakes Community College Viticulture and Wine Center, aims to offer a unique experience for wine enthusiasts.
The tasting room, located on Main Street, is expected to open in April, showcasing Acquilano Wine Cellars’ products along with other Finger Lakes winery selections. Focusing on education and variety, the tasting room will not only serve wine but also aim to teach visitors about wine pairing, production, and the distinct styles of various winemakers.
Acquilano plans to include wines produced by FLCC viticulture students and offer tastings from local craft brewers and distillers, emphasizing the rich wine culture of the Finger Lakes region.
