Arkport man to crew chief for Jimmie Johnson at Daytona 500

Jason Burdett, an Arkport native, is set to make a significant mark in NASCAR as he prepares to serve as crew chief for racing legend Jimmie Johnson in the upcoming Daytona 500.

This journey from Steuben County dirt tracks to NASCAR’s pinnacle event highlights Burdett’s remarkable career progression. With nearly three decades of experience in the racing world, Burdett has worked his way up from the ground floor, contributing to the success of some of the sport’s most renowned drivers.

After moving to North Carolina shortly after high school, he began his NASCAR career with humble beginnings, eventually joining Hendrick Motorsports and playing a pivotal role in preparing cars for iconic drivers.

Now, as he teams up with Jimmie Johnson at Legacy Motor Club for the 2024 season, Burdett is poised to check off a major milestone by participating in his first Daytona 500 as a crew chief.
