The New York State Comptroller’s Office has launched an investigation into the Avon village police chief, focusing on bookkeeping irregularities. Avon Village Mayor Thomas Freeman confirmed the inquiry into Chief Joseph Geer, emphasizing the chief’s ongoing duties and expressing his full confidence in Geer’s integrity.
In a related inquiry reported by News10NBC in Rochester, the Avon Central School District Superintendent confirmed an FBI investigation into false claims associated with school district employment. While the superintendent did not confirm Chief Geer’s involvement, it’s noted that Geer serves as a school resource officer for the district.
Both the FBI and the state Comptroller’s office have remained silent on the matter.
