Funeral arrangements have been set for Daniel DeWolf, a beloved Wayne County firefighter who tragically passed away on duty. DeWolf, 52, became unresponsive while tackling a structure fire in Arcadia and later succumbed to his condition at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday at 2 p.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Lyons.

DeWolf’s commitment to the Fairville Fire Department spanned 32 years, earning him multiple “Fireman of the Year” awards. His obituary honors his life, detailing his May 10, 1971, birth in Newark, NY, and his high school graduation from Newark High School in 1989. DeWolf was a skilled welder/fabricator, known for his work at Halstead Machine and his humble, selfless nature.

The family, honoring DeWolf’s legacy, has requested donations to the Newark Assembly of God Church or the Fairville Fire Department in lieu of flowers. DeWolf is survived by his son Chet, granddaughter Addyson, mother Betty, and siblings. He was predeceased by his father Edward Sr. and brother Jeffrey Austin. His life, marked by dedication to his community and family, will be deeply remembered and celebrated.
