Sheriff Brian Schenck reports the arrest of a Cayuga County woman after a domestic incident on December 28.
According to a news release, at approximately 8:34 AM members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office along with New York State Police responded to an address on West Genesee Street Road in the town of Aurelius for a reported domestic incident involving an assault.
Upon arrival, Deputies were met by a male who had sustained a head laceration after a physical
domestic incident involving Samantha L. Atwater.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Atwater struck the male in the head with an object resulting in a laceration requiring medical treatment. The male was transported to Auburn Community Hospital by EMS for medical treatment.
Upon completion of the investigation, Atwater was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Atwater was turned over to the Cayuga County Jail where she was arraigned in CAP Court. Atwater was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Aurelius Court at a later date and time.
